Burung ini berwarna hitam dan kuning dengan strip hitam melewati mata dan tengkuk, bulu terbang sebagian besar hitam. Tubuh bagian bawah keputih-putihan dengan burik hitam, iris merah, bentuk paruh meruncing dan sedikit melengkung ke bawah, ukuran panjang paruh kurang lebih 3 cm, kaki hitam.
